Gods Kinde Love: Julian of Norwich Vernacular Theology of Grace
Julia A. Lamm
Between the Short Text and the Long Text, there was a twenty-four-fold increase in Julian’s use of the words grace, gracious, and graciously. Studying these usages in the context of the entire Showings, Lamm contends that Julian has developed a coherent and discernable theology of grace—and did so, in part, as a response to the social upheaval of her times—and demonstrating that Julian’s important theological discussions cannot be understood apart from her understanding of grace.
