Gifts

Watching other people work is a lifetime activity and way of learning. From a child watching its mother cook to a busy adult taking time to stop and look at a construction site, attention is focused. So many different things could fill the mind—curiosity, criticism, fascination, admiration, relief.

One of God’s gifts to those living in community can be the pleasure of watching others work, enjoying with quiet appreciation the gifts of their presence and efforts. This week, we had a special day when friends came over to work with us, and we so much appreciated what everyone accomplished—it was a real pleasure to look around and see things moving! And to share fellowship—a little slice of the company of the saints. One of God’s greatest gifts to us.

Our last project of moving is the library, and we achieved our objective of getting the bookcases inside and sorting the piles of boxes—the various library sections—still in the garage. We discovered the box of cookbooks. Nobody got stuck in the elevator. And much pizza was had by all.
