Welcome to our Care of Place page. In keeping with monastic tradition, the Order seeks to live responsibly in our present surroundings, fulfilling our duties as stewards of God's creation and being mindful of the  effects our actions have on the future. We work for a respectful, mutually beneficial relationship with our land and its resources, accepting the beauty and complexity of our home, receiving its gifts in all their fullness, and working in our turn to renew and sustain the land.
Solar panels, installed in 2009 by WE Energies, provide the majority of our electricity.  Click on the link at top right for a live report of our electricity generation.

We are currently engaged in designing and caring for a sustainable, environmentally healthy landscape, developing natural water management, and making use of the beauty and benefits of our land's native plants. Our organic vegetable garden continues to expand to try to meet the needs of the community. The link at right provides photographs of the landscaping work in progress, and the current state of the garden.

The new monastery addition, completed in January 2010 by Groth Design Group of Cedarburg and Stier Construction of Waukesha, facilitates care of our older members and handicapped accessibility, provides more cells, and integrates the chapel and house into a single building.  Photo albums at right recall the construction's progression and provide a tour of the completed addition.

All of this work, especially the new construction, is possible because of your gifts and continuing pledges to the Order.

Thank you for your continuing generosity. We could not do this without you!
